[KEYBOARD] Droid X Multitouch
 

Since this thread was moved I'm gonna say this is works on the EVO ( Droid X too duh! ) , might work on other phones with 4.3" display.

Here is the DROID X Multitouch keyboard.

This thing is great. You can really fly with it. It's got some kicka$$ typing sounds too. Like an old typewriter.

Install the apk, the goto settings, lang & keyboard, turn it on... then when you goto type something in long press and enable multitouch...

So, is this a true multitouch keyboard? Like you can hit two keys at once and they both register?

Pretty much..I mean you can have your finger holding one key down and then press another and it registers.
Give it a try ;)

Just wondering ... Is that really a need though... I mean who holds down one key and types with the other? Besides i have the Swype keyboard on my EVO and im not even worrying about the HTC one anymore

I don't know if any of this shit is a need man. Its all up to the one using it. The multitouch lets me go faster cuz i can have my next key pressed that much quicker.

The mic button (speech to text) does not work on this KB on EVO. Anyone else having this problem or just me?

Yeah, I downloaded it (just for kicks) its better than stock but I'll stick to Swype. I feel like I'm going back into the past with this Droid keyboard. There's a noticeable different in how fast (or slow) I'm typing with this thing.

Got the keyboard installed, but it seems to have a bit of input lag... I can type wicked fast with it since it registers spaces and two keys at the same time, but the word correction isn't fast enough to compensate, and I can't calibrate the keyboard. :(

Okay, I do notice a difference in the registration of my input. It is much "cleaner".
I went back to the stock keyboard and noticed tons of issues when I tried to type too fast. I actually had to slow down in order for it register my finger on two keys at the same time.

The only problems I have is how small the text box actually is. I hate the fact that word prediction is always showing, feels like I'm missing a chunk of my screen. The speech bubbles were much better.
Also, I miss the press and hold function from the HTC keyboard. Someone needs to make a hybrid ASAP!

Lol as the ultimate swype fan, I'm a little biased, but my life motto is to try everything.. So I guess I'll downie it. But I honestly can't think of how anything could get better than swype unless you just stared at the phone and words appeared. And they'd have to appear pretty damn fast to keep up with swype.. :toothy7:

EDIT: Ha wow, this keyboard is kinda fun to use. To me it's a better version of the HTC keyboard. Honestly, before I became a master of de swype, I thought I would do just fine with the HTC stock kb, and now I think I might go back and forth with this new one and swype. This ported version of swype kinda has a lag in internet apllications, so maybe I'll use this kb for that stuff.. Thanks given, nice apristel

Tried this, and didnt really like the auto-correction. Makes me realize how many mistakes i actually make. Or maybe im just doing something wrong. Tried to adjust the settings but still no go. I like it when it corrects the word when i hit space....

I don't think it will due to the screen size being drifferent. Both the EVO and the Droid X are 4.3" screen.

to find that particular thread using simple search (not google) with results as threads (default)
enter "multi touch evo" and do not include "keyboard" or "droid"

you can include "kb" or "x" in your search but it will just be ignored

I downloaded this when it first got ported and never posted a comment. Works really on my evo...thanks Apristel! Been using as my main kb flawlessly.

After you install the Droid keyboard, go to your text app and in the text field long press. You should get either "input method" or it will list "Touch input" and "Multi touch keyboard". If it says input method, select it. Then select "Multi touch keyboard" and you should be all set.

thanks! installed and works perfect.
I'm just hoping this fixes the issue of not being able to type, when you do it just shows the autocorrect words and no text. It may have something to do with ATK though, oh well!!

i've used this on all of OMJ's roms with perfect results but when i try to use it on Cyanogen's rom from XDA, it thinks it's already installed.

any suggestions?
