Re: Sling mobile
Okay.... so I purchased slingplayer mobile for my PPC6700 about 8 years back. I used the software with a legacy Slingplayer that has worked like a charm since day one. Over the years I reactivated the license on every win mobile phone I bought, i.e. the ill fated Samsung 830W, the Sprint Mogul (6800), HTC diamond, Touch Pro and finally Touch Pro 2. During that time I switched to an unlocked version of the software so I would not have to wait the 2 days to get a new activation key every time I reloaded a new rom on a phone.
Now I finally upgrade to a Sprint EVO and I discover that I will have to pay $30 again to be able to attempt to use slingplayer mobile with Android. So, what do I do..... I purchase it for $30 from the Marketplace and install it. Considering the time that I used my win mobile license and the fact that I could have stuck it out with the TP2 for quite a bit longer, I see no reason to blame the Slingbox manufacturers for recouping development cost on the android platform or for them to make money. IMHO Nuff said !! |
Re: Sling mobile screw job.
You miss the point.Tech support told me and others we would NOT have to buy a new licence/software.It is called honor your word or fire the people that give wrong information to the customers.I am not the first nor the last to post about the lies.Go read the other guys post.Same issue same statement from sling to him..;.;

Needless to say I am very disappointed the license won't transfer over. Very poor execution on slingmedia's behalf. They should at least offer a version that you could get directly from the slingstore that has a key field or simply tie the key to the logon credentials. To begin with I think its crazy that you have to buy software to use their device in which you paid hundreds of dollars for. I like my slingbox don't get me wrong, but not at the price of another 30 buck. To me that's insulting to have to re buy something! http://answers.slingbox.com/message/8197#8197 |

But when I looked into getting a SlingBox one reason I picked it was because you could transfer the licence to a new device. When I lost my Windows mobile phone and had to do that I had no problem. I even got this e-mail from them for the "Device Change" Dear Sling Media Customer, Thanks for using SlingPlayer Mobile! We're glad that you've made us a part of your mobile experience. Just as a reminder, your SlingPlayer Mobile registration key is good for activating one player at a time. As a convenience to you, our one-step registration transfer service automatically deactivates the previous phone when you activate a new one. It's one less thing for you to do! This email confirms that this registration transfer has been completed. Would you like to learn more about SlingPlayer Mobile? Come on over to our support site. There, you'll find how-to articles, answers to questions, and other info that'll help you get the most out of SlingPlayer Mobile. Keep on slinging! Sincerely, The Sling Media Team I understand what they are doing and why they are doing it....but as the email they send me says....I paid for the licence on 1 phone at a time that can be transfered. Now that Android....Palm...iPhone....Windows Mobile.....ect are all out. They have changed their tune. Without notifying us. We already paid for the licence for SLINGPLAYER MOBILE. It was never locked down to a specific OS....now they are doing it. Which is fine, but it's just dirty that they wouldn't tell us or give us some kind of discount for buying something we already paid for. http://answers.slingbox.com/message/8195#8195 |
