Handcent SMS
 

As this is my first Android phone i do have to say Wow, this phone rocks with a few app changes... (making my winmo Tilt2 look bad)

I strongly recommend installing Handcent SMS application (available on market) ...

This makes the SMS/MMS work exactly like i would expect it to... So simple and slick....

It's all I use. I hate the stock message system. I think handcent is what the phone should have came with...

What is wrong with the stock one? I actually tried handcent sms and didn't quite like it. The only thing I tried it for is to try and change the Evo's LED color to blue, but it didn't seem to work.

ive been using handcent since the hero and i love it over the stock app.

for the people that dont like handcent, you could always try chompsms.

I really like this app, the only problem I have with it is the notification, Is their a way that you can change that it doesnt notify on the screen with the text message, and in the top left hand corner? Everytime I get a text, I get two notifications (1 for the stock text app and 1 for the handcent.) Is there a way to change this? I tried in the settings,, and it kept coming up. Sorry if this is a stupid question, I am just a Android Noob. Thanks again

I've been curious about something.
Does Handcent allow you to set the resolution of a picture or max size of a video? Will it automatically resize a picture before sending? Ex: I have an 8 Mpixel picture I want to MMS to someone. I want to create a new MMS, select the picture and have it automatically resized to say 1 Mpixel or a specific resolution like 1024x768.

You need to go into the settings for the stock application and turn off notifications... Open the app, hit Menu > Settings > Uncheck Received and Sent notifications. I also uncheck Auto-Retrieve for MMS.

How do u stop the quick reply from poppin up?? Besides that I love it perfect app!

Ok so thank you for the first thing,, on turning the stock notification off,,, I got that. Now can I stop it from displaying the text one the screen when I recieve a text? I turned quick reply off, but the message is still coming up. Any help would be appricated. Thank you in advance
