remote control evo??
 

Does anyone know of a app that you can remotely control your evo 4g device from the computer through a usb cable (3g would be fine too)??

I found an app that you can do it with wifi, but I do not have wifi available at my work location (the app is called htcportal).

I also found a screencast application:

(but you can only view the screen, you cannot remotely control it.)

while at work I like to plug my phone in and just keep it on my pc screen so I can type messages or whatever through the software instead of having to pickup the phone and/or disconnect the usb/charging cable.

I have been searching for this too. Do a search in the android forum for "my mobiler" (WinMo app) with or without space between words, and I think it came up with a couple of different options.

ALL of the posts are directed towards the screencast app :/
my evo isn't rooted and I don't want to root it just to use this app.

so I was looking around google and found an app for what I would like to do!
(connect my evo to my computer to charge and view/send messages through the computer)

the app is called "EasySMS" in the appmarket, NO root needed!

You access it through a web interface by going to:
http://127.0.0.1:2511/index.html

A very cool feature is you can compose a message and as you type it brings up your contacts that match the text!!

it's easy to setup! I run it through the usb cable.

**edit** when you get a text a popup comes up on the webpage interface! (I have my refresh interval on 5seconds)

Thanks for the info for EasySMS, just to help with anyone wanting to do the Screencast method, and not fully root their phone, I wrote up a howto on using Unrevoked.
