I don't know where I saw it with so many info streams coming at me, but last week I read that someone at Netflix claimed there would be no app for current Androids -- ever -- because of the DRM issue and the many platforms. They were going to work on it for the next generation droid releases instead. I hope I read that wrong.

Anyone else see or hear anything like that?

You are correct, it will be available in the future to some Android devices only :(

Sounds like BS to me. Can't tell me that WP7 and the iPhone are more secure. iPhone has been jailbroken from almost the beginning and the same with the new WP7.

It's not bs. Android is open source and netflix has to satisfy the movie studios. It's different to have broken vs having the source code. Netflix is working with each phone manufacturer and it takes quite some time.

Sorry. Not buying it. Open source does not mean less secure.

It's been proven time and again that there really is no such thing as secure software even in a closed source OS. So saying they are not doing it because it is open source is just a poor excuse.

It is the same excuse that they use for why I can't watch netflix on my linux laptop. It isn't netflix that has a problem with opensource, it is the studios that they license films from. They are scared of the creativity/ingenuity of the opensource community.

That's the very same creativity/ingenuity that will find a way for us to watch Netflix on our Epics as soon as they come up with a version for any future Android. I am sure that someone (probably here) will find a way, before my two contract years on Epic have passed.
