Don't need it anymore since the playoffs and superbowl aren't played on NFL Network. You'll need a slingbox to watch the games on your phone now. Or just go to one of the sites that play the games on your browser.

Might as well wait till 2012. There won't be a season this year because of the lockout and Verizon will probably update the app by then.

is this being actively worked on? Would love to see this released!

Verizon might have locked it down pretty tight this time. I doubt it it will work anytime soon.
