Problem is solved. I had to change a setting on my phone. The setting under connection tab in the USB to PC was set to Disk Drive and when I changed it to ActiveSync(Sync with outlook) and when I did start WMDC the connection was there and my calender and contacts are all transferred to my new phone now. Thanks for all your help.
