This has been a frustrating experience, trying to get a louder volume on my Raphael. BUT I finally have it working quite loudly.
I learned a few things that more knowlegeable people probably already know, but us newbies are stumbling over:
Many people report replacing their audiopara3.csv file with ZERO changes. This is because there is a registry setting that directs your Raphael to use an audio file other than audiopara3.csv. To the best of my knowlege, this is due to the 100db European limit.
There are two ways to force your Raphael to look for audiopara3.csv:
1. Easy way . . . Use Diamond Tweak to "disable" the "100 db Sound Limitation" setting in Section 3.3. Exit Diamond Tweak to save setting changes. Then soft reset.
2. Or edit the registry . . . In HKLM->Drivers->BuiltIn->WaveDev change AcousticFile entry to point to your audiopara3.csv file, then soft reset. Credit goes to Larik in post #252 for this enlightening fact.
First part is done. Now your Raphael looks at the right file.
Unfortunately (or fortunately), there are many edited version of this Excel database out there. One that I tried actually turned the back speaker (speakerphone) completely off!
The one that worked for me is dated 9-28-08 and is 67.5kb in size. I don't remember where I found it and it's late and I'm ready for bed, but that particular version worked very well for me (back speaker and front speaker, I have not tested it with wired headphones or bluetooth). My compliments to whoever edited it.
Remember, the current registry settings and the version of audiopara3 that you now have on your phone are NOT what ATT/Sprint/etc. installed on your phone. Rather, they are whatever the chef cooked into your new ROM. So after every ROM upgrade, you will have to redo this procedure (unless your chef does it for you). So save any good audiopara3 file that works well for you in a safe place.
I hope this post is helpful to some of you other newbies. If you old pros note errors above, please let me know and I'll edit it.
YOUR RESULTS MAY VARY. Good luck.
