I've never used WAD, keep in mind the whole point behind WAD is that YOU create a Today screen, or mny virtual Today screens to your liking. WAD is a plugin for WA2, so first you need a WA2 theme that you like... then you need to create or basically copy a WAD theme.
With that said, people do share their WAD themes at the official WA2/WAD forums

assume it just needs to be QVGA, although I could be wrong since users may be counting with the 240x320 space... so try that out, or look for square themes.
You can always edit a 240x320 theme I gues... I don't really know.
