Re: Who switched from TOUCH PRO 2 to EVO 4G??

I loved my Touch Pro 2, absolutely loved it. But come on, the Evo is way better. I bought the Evo on launch day because of the awesome specs (front camera for video chat, 4G, large screen, snapdragon, etc).

Here is what I miss about my Touch Pro 2 (and the many WinMo phones I owned before the Touch Pro 2):
The keyboard. Everyone will tell you the touch screen keyboard is just as good. It isn't. There is just no comparison when you type out a long email or a document or even a post on a message board. The touch screen keyboard will get you by if you are typing out a quick text message or something, but it isn't even close if you are typing a full page document.

Office. Speaking of typing documents, there is no app that compares to the office suite on WinMo devices. I used to make all kinds of notes, memos, documents, etc, on my Touch Pro 2. Half of them won't even open on my Evo, no matter what office app I try to use. They just open as a bunch of symbols and unreadable garbage. Even some documents I make on my laptop using open office won't open on my Evo. It is definitely missed.

Having said that, both of those things will get you by on the Evo. No, they aren't as good as it was on the Touch Pro 2, but they will still get you by. You can absolutely type out a document on the Evo, especially with Swype. The Swype keyboard works, and there are plenty of office suites that will allow you to type out a word doc. It's not as good as the Touch Pro 2 in those aspects, but it still works.

Other than that though, the Evo completely blows the Touch Pro 2 out of the water. It has way better web browsing, with flash and everything. Web browsing is as good as it is on my laptop. The Dolphin HD browser owns, and I mean OWNS any browser on the Touch Pro 2. It's like using Chrome browser on my laptop. The 4G makes web browsing as fast as it is on a wifi connected laptop too. Plus you can talk on the phone while you are on the internet. The video chat is awesome too. And then you have the speed of the device which is way faster than the Touch Pro 2. And the apps, man there is an app for just about everything you could ever want, and most of them are free. The Android market owns. You can find an app, download and install it right there (which is even faster over 4G), and set the app to automatically update. It's awesome. And the screen is way more touch sensitive, with a way more finger friendly OS. Not only is the device way faster, but the way you use it and the way you interface with it is way faster and better.

I would never go back to my Touch Pro 2. Mine has been collecting dust ever since I got my Evo. I would probably hold out for the Evo 3D if I was thinking about getting a new phone right now (rumors say it will be available for preorder on 4-11-11) but I can't imagine anyone getting an Evo and then going back to a Touch Pro 2. I know I would not even consider going back to a Touch Pro 2 for even 1 second. There are a couple things that the Touch Pro 2 does better (keyboard and office) but the Evo still does them good enough. However, there are many, many things the Evo does better, and several things the Evo does that the Touch Pro 2 doesn't do at all. It's not even a close comparison.
