Yea, if your SIM isn't unlocked, then maybe take it out. Also, I saw an app in the Marketplace for international emergency numbers. Might be kinda handy to have (I travel a lot too). Also, there is a cool program called Track Me, which plots your GPS coordinates on a map to show your course of travel. Doesn't require data.
