Re: SMS interrupting EVDO connection, stays on 1x

If sprints CDMA networks works like verizon's then its simple. The network is designed to handoff backwards but not in the other direction.

Example would be. You have a Sprint/Verizon Data card running evdo in a car that is driving from state to state. When your connected to broadband EVDO it will stay that way as long as the handoff is to another EVDO connection. The moment you however hit a 1X tower you will not be able to handoff foward to EVDO. you would have to disconnect and reconnect once you get to an EVDO area. Essentially the same thing is happening in this case

You start your EVDO data connection and it is interupted by a 1X only service. once you connection goes to 1X your stuck that way for that particular connection (most of this is invisible on phones due to apps normally not staying 100% connected all the times and will give time for the connection to disconnect and only reconnect once its needed.) this streaming audio however is using a constant connect and doest take the time to disconnect and reconnect cause it to not hand back off to evdo. once you of course stop it and terminate the connection it goes back to normal. only way around this is the streaming done will have to be updated to only gather packets when needed as to staying connected constantly (though since its streaming I doubt it will be able to stop and start again in the same fashion like an app would.)
