New vs. old

Hola Geekpeeps. Okay, so when I 1st got into this I was informed that I needed to get a regedit to do any fun stuff. Did that. I got RegEditCe.v1.1. I then noticed that it was rather dated comin from the year 2003 but I got it anyway. I've been able to do some tweaks but when I tried to increase tabs allowed I got as far as Windows Ce which was not part of the edit. The post said Windows\Opera9\opera.ini. Did I take the wrong path or do I need updated regedit like PHM? Is the best place for this in the phone or SD card? If I delete the old 1 im guessin i'll have to go back and tweak again to get edits the way I had them if I switch 2 PHM. Lots of ?'s I know. Thank you in advance.Peace.

I was tryin to change the default of 3 tabs allowed in Opera from 3 to 7. When the edit was posted it only started out w/Windows\Opera9\opera.ini . I dont know the path to get to that. I've gotten to a Windows CE but theres no Opera settings anywhere in that.

Close Opera and edit \Windows\Opera9\opera.ini and change the Max Allowed Tabs to the right number

Okay Gar... Do this...

1) Download Total Commander.. It is a great registry editor.. I use it all the time...

2) Make sure you close out Opera.. Don't have it running or this will not work...

3) Once you have that program installed, open it up. Click on the folder called 'Windows'.. This will take a few seconds to open..

4) Okay.. Now slowly scroll down to the folder called 'Opera9'.. It should be in the 5th or 6th row down...

5) Scroll down to 'opera.ini'... Should be about 5 or 6 rows down...

6) Just click lightly on it so it is highlighted... Now while this is highlighted, click on 'File' (near the left bottom corner)

7) Click on 'Edit'... This will open a new screen...

8) Scroll down until you see 'Maximum Allowed Tabs=3'.. Delete the 3 and insert what you want.. I believe you said 7... After this click 'ok' in the top corner.. Then exit Total Commander.. Do a soft reset and it should be all set

I do not know why your video camera opens instead of the regular camera.. Weird...

Thanks Big D. I downloaded TC per yer advice. I saw three diff. things listed once I did that from the file. Are they all prudent to have? I'm goin out for guys nite to throw darts and have a barley-pop or 2 or 3. Yer rep based on what i've read in this forum not just the num. is very viable. So says the"Lurker". I might have some more noob ?'s tomorrow. Thanks big time Big D.

No problem Gar.. I would keep them just in case they are. Never sure about things like those sometimes. Hope you have fun with the guys. lol.. Don't worry about being a "Lurker". You just joined PPC Geeks. You will be a 'Veeper in no time :) Any questions you have, just search and if you can't find answers to them, post them in this thread and I will try to help you out the best I can.

Thanks for the info thus far Big D. However, I dont know what path to take to get to Windows. Which H Key and so on to navigate to Windows. I've come across a Windows but it's got "current user" and "5.0" but nothin w/Opera 9 under it. Darts went well. I took 2 out of 3 games and the PBR was fresh. Thanks Big D. Peace.

OMG. Big D if it were a snake...I should go get Windows for Dummies. It's a shame for me that my 64 yr. old mother, back in Ga., can get around the puter better than me. Btw yer Total Comm. looks better than mine(imagine that). Guess there are settings to space out the folders like that. Mine are all bunched up in a column. Bless you for help. Thanks again. Peace.
