you can disable usb in activesync, it won't spead it up much, but atleast it will be less likely to confuse your pc.

the best way to speed up your sd card on your device is to buy a better class and format it with the correct block size for the capacity of the card

According to this page: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Secure_Digital "SDHC cards have a fixed sector size of 512 bytes." This is given as the reason that SDHC cards are limited to 32GB. Am I missing something?
