Notification hack?

Need my phone at night but i get multiple emails at night that wake me with notifications. during the day i must get these emails but when i am trying to get my 3 hours sleep nightly i want none but still need to phone for emergency incoming calls

Start / Settings / Personal {tab} / Sounds and Notifications /Notifications {tag} / take dropdown box to "Messaging: New e-mail Messaging" and disable the appropriate checkboxes.
