Upgrade Sprint HTC Touch Pro2

Have Sprint HTC TP2 here in USA. Installed Sharky Rom. Nice, but I want a faster phone. I have been led to believe (from Sprint) that any future phone upgrades will require a new plan. This seems odd. I started with a Mogul, bought a TP2 unlocked from Ebay and did the swap just by entering the new phone info online. Is there a newer, faster, smart phone I can upgrade to without changing plans with sprint? I have a pretty sweet plan now $29 for 200 minutes and $10 unlimited data. There doesn't seem to be anything close to this plan available today.

Re: Upgrade Sprint HTC Touch Pro2

from what i understand for speed you wanna go with processor and internal memory... I have a TP2 as well and its not very fast because it's a single core processor phone with a less than a small amount on onboard memory.... momery cards help but its just like a car, you need bigger parts to go fast.. I say get an Evo and keep calling the call center at sprint untill you get a rep who agrees with you...

Have you overclocked yet? Use WiMoSpeed and you can probably oc to 748mhz.

If you stil want a different phone I'd say the Arrive is your next step. You'll have to change plans slightly with any newer phone.

Re: Upgrade Sprint HTC Touch Pro2

Unfortunately, Sprint is smarter than we think. I did a lot of research, and spent time talking to Sprint customer service. The TP2 is probably the last of the touch screen dinosaurs that can use a cheap data plan, and still receive 3G. I pay only $15 bucks for unlimited data, and a more than generous amount of text messages.

Be careful with overclocking the TP2. You can easily brick it. If you are a risk taker, then go very slowly with uping the clock speed. If it starts acting querky, then back off the speed a bit. The processor is not fast at all, and if pushed, will come to a quick halt.

Good luck.

In no way you can brick a phone using winmo speed, at worst it freezes and a quick pull of battery solves the problem.

If your on sero I believe you can upgrade to transform ultra by going sero plus $40 and no 4g fee

That's exactly what I though when I read it. If you install you OC program to the SD card then you have no problems.

It is all good. Some live by the 'Better Safe than Sorry', others live by the 'When you are at the Edge, jump'. It is nice that we have both here in our community! Have fun out there!

I believe winmo speed requires to be installed on main memory not sdcard, please correct me if I'm wrong

It could be, I've never actually used it though. I've used OCT 1.5 and another overclocking method that I can't recall and both of those were able to go on the SD card.

Re: Upgrade Sprint HTC Touch Pro2

You can install to SD card and link to windows start up. I prefer to install to card. That way if you clock to high, pull card and bam! Clocking at 528.
