Thumbs up Re: New bing mobile

<echo> ... not interested in a reduced functionality Bing Mobile, especially regarding GPS capability. That's an easy decision.

Re: New bing mobile

Anything new on this issue? Any real work arounds? I have an Omnia i910 and Bing was working great unti I started getting the messages as well. I found 2 versions that will at least install but they bail after a few seconds. I was directed to a site that had directions for "fixing" the Bing.config file. Mine only has an xml file in the installed directory and I changed almost everything in that file (as a funny note you can make the error message say whatever you want) but it still bails out.

I know installing is related to it checking resolutions. Any reg keys we can set to fool it into thinking my standard Omnia is higher def than it is to install? Might work after that if we fool the newer versions into at least installing. Anyone?

I just found the turn by turn and all that a few weeks ago. Pretty sure this is a way to discourage low res use of it but damn it guys (at M$ and VZW, etc) it was usable just fine on our devices.

Re: New bing mobile

From reading around the forums I found how to get Bing to go into landscape without opening the keyboard, helpfull when using it for navigation. Add the following to the registry:

HKCU\Software\HTC\HTCSENSOR\GSensor\ModuleName
Add: "Bing" contents "\Program Files\Bing\BingClient.exe"

HKCU\Software\HTC\HTCSENSOR\GSensor\WhiteList
Add: "Bing" contents "#NETCF_AGL_Base_"

I installed it to the device and not the storage card. Soft reset after making changes.

Re: New bing mobile

The version in the OP is fairly old. Maybe a newer version would help?

I try to keep the latest Bing, Google Maps & Windows Live linked over in this thread:

Re: New bing mobile

I started using bing about 5 days ago. I have to say, it's pretty nice. I was going to go buy a gps unit but after reading about bing and then using it, I'm really impressed. It's very accurate so far for me. I used it search for two different businesses and it got me there (I already know where those two businesses are so I decided to test it out). Then, one day, I wanted some popeyes chicken so I search for a nearby popeyes and it got be there. I wish it had 3D like a regular gps unit does but overall, it runs great. Even the voice recognition thing is cool.
