Haven't tried 9.7, but stock should be 9.5. It's good, but I'm on )pera 10 beta (came with the new rom). Aside from a few things (doesn't have a homepage button, and doesn't lock when scrolling), it's pretty awesome. Oh, and you can't control the zoom level. It's either zoomed in, or zoomed out. But it's more accurate than before. It actually zooms where you click (whereas 9.5. usually zooms to the top left corner, then you have to scroll).

FYI only Opera 9.5 (aka stock Opera) has the ability to use push internet.

I am curious about this as well..... how do I upgrade to last stable pre 10beta version of Opera and make it my default on my TP2?

Honestly, Opera 10 does have a few minor... faults, but it's definitely worth the upgrade. I can do without the home button (the tabs button brings you back to the home screen), and although scrolling doesn't lock, I can manage just fine. It's a really good browser :)
