Is their a better sms program/theme/skin whatever??

I might have missed it but I have been searching and grinding out links for about a week, as well as flashing rom non stop some fantastic, some good, some new some old, but I seriously want to know about a better sms app.
I am kind of meh about the sense 2.5 , even though at least now it works for the most part. I know about smiley sms and it is okay, but i can't get it to run native as well as it isn't quite as polished as I would like.

So is their either
1. an app similar to handcent or chomp sms for my htc touch pro
~note~ Lately I have been using the android pro eclair and it is quite lovely. It just isn't stable enough for constant use. mainly because the sound is really dim (im sure that is probably easily fixable with a few tweaks, The lack of a camera sucks but is fine except certain programs glitch out because of it, and the no recieving mms is a big bummer) Great work though!!!

2. if not than can i be directed towards a cab or directions that i can make smiley sms override the native messaging program
~note~ I have cookie home editor and try to change the messaging program their but smiley sms doesn't show up in the program list

3. I appreciate all the help and all the work everyone has put into all mobile software. I may be a lurker but I have been a lurker for quite some time admiring all of your hard work.

I have seen it, but I haven't tried it.
Partially it isn't as aesthetically pleasing as chomp or handcent.
PLUS I don't know if it will actually overtake the sense 2.5 messaging function
or just be an add on like smiley sms. If it only adds on than it will just continue to confuse the two programs and cause problems with my texting like smiley is. Smiley sms is even making my sense 2.5 fault and close by itself because of the two contradicting each other. Or at least that is why I assume ti is closing.

Yeah sorry about that, I originally posted a link to the skin that Darren posted but when I read your post it sounded more like you wanted a program replacement, not just a skin. Anyhow, here is the full thread containing a few other skins in addition to what Darren posted.

Yes, thanks, it really wasn't so much that I needed a replacement program it was just that smiley sms only comes up if i press the all messages button on screen, and i was hoping that i could get it when i clicked on the text from the home page as well.

hahaha, sadly I am not much of a new member but I haven't been very active, I normally just lurk around and figure everything out for myself, I appreciate all the work and every once in a while I run into an issue and I just can't figure out a fix. So the faster I get helped the happier I am.
This looks a lot better.. But I still can't figure out how to get skinned sms to open instead of the sense messaging from the personal messaging tab. at least not without the "all messages" button on the bottom.
