Data Cap Update

After talking with some friends that are Sprint employees highly interested in their and most of our friends Moguls, I have what might be new news regarding the data cap.

First, the data cap will NOT affect Mogul users. The cap is for people using Sprint Data Cards (laptop cards, air cards etc.). The cap is expected to affect only 1% of their users.

Also, as you have probably heard: the cap will not have overage fees and Sprint will only contact you if you repeatedly go over the limit. It doesn't sound like they will cancel your contract, with repeated overages they will allow you to cancel your contract but I don't know the details of the rest.

Re: Data Cap Update

question. i think someone stated a while back that VZ has a data cap? if so, is it the same circumstance where it only affects data cards for laptops?

I thought the VZ was universal for all phones/cards. Maybe I misheard but it still isn't the same thing because VZ charges data overages.

Re: Data Cap Update

I believe VZ's cap is for everything on the internet pack. I checked with them when attempting to choose a carrier. I asked if it was truly unlimited, and she gave me the fine print... 5GB cap

Re: Data Cap Update

If you keep going over the 5GB with Sprint, Retentions will contact you and see what kind of an agreement they can reach with you, as far as even allowing you to maintain using what you want as long as it doesnt adversely impact the network. Also, pda users have nothing to worry about at all because the data plan the devices use include unlimited data over EVDO especially the $99.99 Simply Everything plan

Re: Data Cap Update

I hope there not monitoring my mogul / tethering with usbmodem.

I use bittorrent constantly and i think i have downloaded roughly 12gb this month.

I have been using about 2-12gb per month for about 1.5 years now and no contact from sprint for my usage.
