Re: Uscc 6800 Gps, Custom Roms, Downgrading Guide

wow. Couldn't get codes to work (##000000, ##diag) if i would have looked in program files i would have seen "phone codes" would have made life easier.....a few more days i will have new Sprint, Verizon, South Cellular,Bell USCC tagged phone figured out. Thank You For The Great Write Up.

Phone works great. gps fast and accurate. internet better. USCC gets the middle finger. "you can't hack CDMA" Ha Funny. Now 5 am. think i will end 12 hour adventure.

Re: Uscc 6800 Gps, Custom Roms, Downgrading Guide

so you got it working? good deal.

what are you using for the GPS? I'm not sure if it's my area or if I have to be in a clear outdoor spot but I have yet to get it to lock on to any satellites. lol. I tried it with google maps.

Re: Uscc 6800 Gps, Custom Roms, Downgrading Guide

Ok I used the guide and it worked perfectly...I almost bricked my phone though because I didn't follow the instructions exactly. To tell the truth, it was bricked for a while and then I had to use a sdcard with a rom on it to get it back and continue the process....lots of confusion...lots of learning. Anyways, I got everything back up and working except GPS. I saw this post...

Where can I find this setting?
Settings -> Phone

Services Tab

Click on Location Setting and hit Get Settings...

I think that's it anyways.

Thanks for the response!

Ok so I tried doing this and unfortunately I still have no GPS. Is there any way to definitely tell if that Sprint Radio installed correctly? Or is there anything else someone can tell me to help out?

Edit: I forgot to mention that neither windows live search nor google maps find my location at all, while navizon seems to find something, though I don't think it's using gps because it's about 10 miles off.

Awesome. Thank you. I'll try it and post back.

Edit: Ok so I installed the GPS viewer. I ran the GPS scanner and it finds the GPS on COM4, but then when I open gps, it is never able to give me a location. I followed all the steps in that link btw.

Re: Uscc 6800 Gps, Custom Roms, Downgrading Guide

Ok I finally got the gps up and running...I had to let GPS viewer run for about a half hour to get a lock, but it works. Does it always take that long to get a lock?
Wanted to say thank you to Maverick for writing such a great guide. It's a shame US Cellular can't support their customers with software updates for the hardware they sell them and we're forced to hack our devices and apply our own roms to utilize the features that we paid our hard earned cash for. US Cellular is an otherwise great company.

That long to get a lock? I usually get a lock with in 45 seconds or faster.

Ever since I got that initial lock, it only takes seconds to get locks....so...all is good now. GPS works great.
