try it and see, just backup/extract EE email to 5.3 and flash it. not 100% sure it will work but i have done this before but not with email apk.

I have never done this process before. I will take a look at it and see what I can figure out.
I will do a search to see if I need any special programs.

Darren, I'm going to pm you about this as not to clog up this thread.
This is for everyone else.
I did a search on google.com, found a program call magiciso, loaded up the. .rfs file and extracted all th .apk and .obex files into a folder.
I then used esexplorer to run email.apk file.
It went through all the confirmation and processes but ended with an error "not able to install"

lol, i just use pc and 7zip/winrar to move files. im talking moving them from one rom to another and it works fine.

Its weird, i tried with winrar before and it showed me a system files that i couldn't open. I just tried it again after reading your post and now it works. i will try the email app again.

get "root manager" and remove email apk then reboot and load apk of your choice (guess its 2.1) then reboot. see if that works cause i just did it and it worked for me but i did it opposite of what your wanting but its all the same in the end.
