Re: midNIGHT ROM DK28 (Froyo) v2.3 EXT4 12/30/2010

I need a few testers. I have a new build that supports both EXT4 and nonEXT4 systems.. Dameon87 released this a little while ago. So PM me if you would like to test. I need EXT4 people and RFS or Stock non-ext4 people as well.

Thanks

I struggled through the process. ADB runs from a command prompt but it needs to show up in your devices (assuming Windows) as an ADB device.

This is not a step-by-step.

You can get the drivers here: Samsung
Run the file inside the zip.

You have to have the device connected to see it in your
device manager. On my Win7 machine it shows up as a Samsung ADB interface under Android USB Devices at the top.

ADB is included in this XDA thread on installing Ext4. The zip is here: http://efragtv.com/android/OneClickEXT4.v1.3.zip
XDA thread [MOD] Epic4G EXT4 Support [Froyo Only] [No More RFS!][Updated/Fixed v1.3] - xda-developers

I unzipped OneClickEXT4.v1.3.zip and put it into a directory called C:\Android so it would be easy to find at the command prompt.
Open Command Prompt
type: CD\Android
type: ADB Reboot Recovery

Your phone should reboot and you will be in the "new" recovery.

Hope this gets you there!

Thanks. I downloaded the SDK and its in the process of installing right now. I guess its time for a new pair of ADB big boy pants! This is something I have been meaning to learn anyway, so its all good.

Sorry to hear you're having trouble getting this going. If ADB makes you feel uneasy, you might have luck following these instructions better (follow closely). This is what I did & it worked great. (The only part I didn't do was flash back to DK05 like it shows I went straight to odin DK2.

No, I'm gonna give it a shot. Like I said its something that I have been meaning to learn anyway. I was a system admin on a small Unix network years ago so I'm not entirely illiterate when it comes to command prompts.

Never got your PM but the I tested and it works like a charm. Will be posting shortly...

There are more frequent updates when you have something new like this.

Re: midNIGHT ROM DK28 (Froyo) v2.4 EXT4 (DUAL) New Kernel "One ROM Fits All" 12/31/20

New Dual Boot ROM is up. This means that if you don't want EXT4 then you no longer have to install it to use the latest midNIGHT ROM. Just flash this ROM as usual and you are good to go. If you do want EXT4 then EXT4 needs to be installed prior. If you already have EXT4 support then you can just flash the ROM as you would any other EXT 4 Supported ROM.

I really try to meet everyone's needs the best I can. This was the best way to do it. Sorry for the frequent updates but with a new thing like EXT4 the updates will come faster due to revisions. When I can simply update via a flashable zip I will. This however only made sense to do as a full rom.
