I had the same error and had to remove the .md5 myself.

Now running 2.3 and it's smooth as silk!

18 ) Run Quick Boot and select Recovery to boot back into Clockwork.

19) This should put you back in clockwork version ending in .2 not .0. Wipe Data 3 times, then Cache 3 Times, then Dalvick 3 times.

20) Flash midNIGHT v2.3 EXT4.zip. Don't reboot. Clear Cache 3 Times, and Dalvick 3 times. DO NOT WIPE DATA.

21) Flash the KERN-DK28EXT4.zip file again.

22) Reboot, and you have a working midnight ROM with working GPS locks. If you use themes/Nexus S wallpapers/anything you need to flash. Boot into the ROM once to let everything set up, then use Quickboot to get back to Clockwork and flash your themes.

Can anyone confirm this... thanks!

dja2k

This is what I did from having v2.2 EXT4 to updating to v2.3 EXT4...

1) Run Quick Boot and select Recovery to boot back into Clockwork.

This should put me back in clockwork version ending in .2 not .0.

2) Ran a ClockWorkMod Backup
3) Wiped Cache 3 Times
4) Wiped Dalvick 3 times
5) Flashed midNIGHT v2.3 EXT4.zip (Didn't reboot yet)
6) Wiped Cache 3 Times (for good measure)
7) Wiped Dalvick 3 times (for good measure)
Rebooted

Note:
1) Did NOT Wipe Data
2) Did not re-flash DK28-EXT4Kernel-FINAL (already had it on my epic so figured I didn't need to re-flash it)

Everything came up perfect - no issues!!!

FYI, the booting up process took a bit longer than I was expecting so I started to worry but then "BAM" - up she started! (so don't panic)

Re: midNIGHT ROM DK28 (Froyo) v2.3 EXT4 12/30/2010

I did similar but followed the other instructions which worked out fine too...

1. Run Quick Boot and select Recovery to boot back into Clockwork.
This should put me back in clockwork version ending in .2 not .0.
2. Wiped Data 3 Times
3. Wiped Cache 3 Times
4. Wiped Dalvick 3 times
5. Flashed midNIGHT v2.3 EXT4.zip (Didn't reboot yet)
6. Wiped Cache 3 Times
7. Wiped Dalvick 3 times
8. Rebooted

Booting process on my end was normal and v2.3 ROM running great! Thanks

Thanks!

The only issue that I am having from not wiping data is I am getting fc errors on email because the AOSP EMail has been removed.

I am so glad I flashed this. I haven't seen the longest battery performance since the Blackberry. And I'm halfway finished with installing all of 200+ apps from my backup pro... there's barely no hiccups. I went to look at a house earlier this afternoon navigation and gps picked up in less than a second. It's still in beta but Damn I haven't found anything wrong with it. It's fast like hell. It boots up fast like hell. It installs fast like hell... The only and least thing I'd point out is gps was some instances when it was losing track of me while I driving. It was cloudy but no rain and little sunshine. But that was it. When I rebooted it never happened again. I wanted to tell the OP thank you for making me lose 5 hours of sleep being addicted to your rom. And Darren.... he'll yeah... and guess what today I got a phone call from the interview I had just yesterday and I got the job... Yeah pretty exciting anyway thanks and keep up the good work.

Edit: there so far 4 instance of force closes.. 2x on the live wallpaper microbe and 2x with adw launcher ex. Nothing biggie because the ROM itself so fast it fires up again you would've missed it if you weren't paying attention. but that was it... No more fc so far.

So when I power off phone completely or say I pull the battery while usb plugged in the charge indicator battery icon stalls. So in this case I ended up keeping the phone powered on... will you clean that up as well? Or is that on the lower end of your priorities?

Guys, quickboot is included in the rom for a reason. It boot to the new recovery, rom manager doesn't yet.....

I'm working a refresh. Cleans things up a bit....

@ darren.wlsn1 since you're helping everybody and using me as an example don't forget to mention it was easier to do all the work on a 64bit machine. Just so everybody know. On 32bit it might work some and might not. Just in case.

Re: midNIGHT ROM DK28 (Froyo) v2.3 EXT4 12/30/2010

I must be cursed or something....

I followed all the instructions in post #2 to the letter. Quantum ROM EXT4 installed, quick boot installed. I open quick boot and click on "Recovery" and the phone hangs at the Samsung screen. If I do the 4-button reboot it will boot into Clockwork but its the old version that ends in 0 not 2. And if I then use Advanced>Reboot recovery it still hangs at the Samsung screen. I can't get back into the new recovery. Any suggestions?

If you have ADB then connect your phone via USB, open a command prompt and type:
ADB Reboot Recovery

That gets me into the new recovery.

I've never messed with ADB. What do I need to install?
