What Windows Phone 7 should have been.. The Photon
Wow, MS was working on Windows Mobile 7 about 18 months ago. It looks like what it supposed to look like as an update for WM6. It's code named Photon. It was supposed to be released by Mid 2009. BUt for some reason, MS abandoned it at some point and released WM6.5 to buy them time to finish the new OS, Which they started from scratch. So WP7 is built in a hurry and is not totally finished yet. MS also stayed away from the desktop looking UI. All this to compete with iPhone's OS.
What is the reason they went from WM7 to WP7? IDK. Maybe it's the way to go for the thriving Smartphone industry. That's what I think WM 6.5 should have looked like. I like the actual WP7 design better than the screen shots above.

I actually remember seeing those pix last yr. Guess the project wasnt as big as they hoped it to be. The only thing im concerned about with WP7 is will multitask. I need multitasking onmy smart phone.

I'm quite happy with m$'s decision. If they were able to release Photon instead of 6.5/6.5.3 that would have been awesome; but I would much rather wait a year for WP7S than have Photon now.
