New Comments System For News

We've implemented a new comments system for our news portal, provided by Disqus. Lots of large news sites use it, including Engadget, CNN, TechCrunch, FoxNews, IGN, etc.

The biggest downside is that it appears that you can't use your PPCG account to post a comment. Instead, you have to link to your Facebook, Twitter, Yahoo, or Disqus account. Or you can post as a guest and provide an email address.

We'll try this out for a little while and see how it goes.

You can also Like or Dislike articles.

EDIT: All of the old comments also need to be imported into this new system, so they'll eventually show back up.

I think it's better! Gives more features and makes it even more fun :) Thanks Frosty!

Disqus isn't very mobile device friendly or at least not WM device friendly. i posted issues that I'm having with the current comment system in this thread:

That is a H U G E downside. Other than that it looks great.

Hate having to logon every time I want to post...

Looks nice but, it sinks that my account on this site is worthless when it comes to that page. Anyone from any site can just post there.

SIGH Reply

In addition to the problems I've been hearing about with it not working in Windows Mobile, it doesn't seem to work on a computer either. I don't want to post as a guest, I'd just like to post from my PPCGeeks account lilke normal like in the old system (and no, I don't have a Yahoo!, OpenID, Facebook, Disgust, or Twitter account).

I went back to the old comments system that we had for a few minutes before we went with Disqus. This one lets you post like you used to do, plus it does threaded comments when you reply directly to someone's comment.
