Server Changes - Report Issues Here - 7/12/10

Yesterday and today I've been making some changes on the server (you may have noticed the site going down for a few seconds here and there when I restarted services).

Please report any weird issues here or anything that's not working correctly. Thanks!

UPDATE: Made a couple more changes today (7/12/10).

I had a wierd one this afternoon. I got on, and somehow it loaded a site that I think was in China or something. All it took to fix it waes closing and restarting my browser (FireFox) but it was a few seconds of ?????

Yeah, that was a rogue script we found this morning. Not sure how long that was happening for, but it was about an hour that we were aware of.

I'm surprised that no one has noticed that "Announcements" in the title of this forum is missing the third 'n'. :laughing6:

I just sent a PM to Laos101 regarding this in response to his specific post on this change, but it may have been more appropriate for me to send it here. I am using Google Chrome and the contextual advertising remains after logging into the site. This issue is not present in IE 8, so it seems to be purely a Chrome phenomenon.

We've decided to change the contextual advertising in place of the advertising with the first post, it's far less intrusive and doesn't affect the formatting of the text. For now it's active for everyone except VIPs (And eventually) subscribers.

If you have any questions pertaining the ads. We are working closely to ensure highly vertical advertising on our site, it does however depend on what content is in the post, but it isn't perfect, nothing is unfortunately.

It shouldn't be a very big hassle but we'll be monitoring how it affects everything. Pages still load very quickly with the in-text advertising and we'll see how it goes.
