Why does the site become so laggy when you press ctrl + and make it bigger. Scrolling becomes almost unusable. Tried this on several computers and it lags even on my quad core desktop. Never had this happen on any other website I have ever visited. What causes this?

What browser is it doing this to you in? I'm using FF and can go two sizes larger on my laptop with no problems.

Chrome is my main browser. Does the same thing in Firefox and Opera though, although to a SLIGHTLY lesser extent. Its like the scrolling is about 500ms behind the actual scrolling on my mouse and even then its jumpy. Does the same thing when I hit the up arrows or the page up or page down keys. Its really weird. This is the only site I have ever had it happen on, and only after the redesign.

We have a huge thread about this from when the site changes took place. As far as I know they fixed as much as possible. Here :) Hope this helps!

Yeah, its probably due to the fixed background image. You can try one of the fluid styles and see if that helps.
