Glitchy Home Screen Swipe

Why is it that when you swipe the home screens it looks kind of glitchy, it doesn't scroll smoothly? I haven't pulled the trigger on the droid yet, but every one I have played with has been like that.

I haven't noticed this on my Droid but one comment I have seen is to do a quick flick instead of slow. It makes it work better is what I have read.

Also, remember, it relies on capacitance rather than pressure or "resistance" so it requires an ACTUAL finger (no finger nails.) Another thing I noticed on a friend's, it seems to not like it if you press hard. Light touches are the way to go.

Re: Glitchy Home Screen Swipe

I've only played with one, but I didnt notice any kind of glitch when moving to the left and right home screens. I'll see if mine does it or not when it arrives tomorrow.

Re: Glitchy Home Screen Swipe

I know what you're talking about, but it really isn't that bad. The home page scrolling isn't as smooth as SPB Mobile Shell or the iPhone, but I'd say it's just a lack of optimization. Even though it looks a little jumpy it's really working just fine. I've noticed that it's "jumpy" in exactly the same spots when you swipe between screens, so I'd say it's a programming issue. The phone does not feel laggy at all, so that's really what matters. Hopefully with updates they'll smooth it out a little, but like I said it doesn't affect usability of the phone at all.

Re: Glitchy Home Screen Swipe

it isn't jumpy at all - at least not that I've seen. It works much, much better/consistently/without-lag than any winmo device I've had (with or without Mobile Shell 3.5).

When you slide left and right on the Home screen, it does not lag but rather slows down as it goes over the "bump". And if you don't slide hard enough, it will not make it over the "bump" and will return to wherever it just was.

I'd agree that it isn't bad, but it is noticeable on slow swipes. If you do it quickly it seems just fine. I think it's the screen 'snapping' to the other home page. Not a bug, but a feature
