Treo 700wx gps enabledN????

I took this from the treo website. Radio
CDMA 800 (Digital Cellular), 1900 (PCS), and 1400(GPS)

what is the gps band for?

no clue. as usualy tho i doubt we r gonna be able to activate out internal gps for any type of use. ill sell you my BT gps and oftware tho if ya want. i NEVER use it.

Every phone as this type of GPS in it. It is mostly for e911 and "location services" offered by sprint.

There is no way to access it for anything useful, if that is what you are implying. Trust me, it's been discussed to death on other boards (like TC).

so what band/gps does/did my sanyo 9000 use? and I had never seen this band referenced before

Who knows, go ask Sanyo.

As far as the band, it's not important. Fact is it has to broadcast on something, so in this case it's 1400.

Either way, it's technically A-GPS (assisted GPS) so it is not strong enough to act like a true GPS unit without help from the cell towers and there is no Location Services API that can access the embedded chip.

There's no secret GPS feature in your phone that you can use for anything.

so in theory could apis be written to access it? I'm sure all the other phones are a-gps? or am I mistaken....

It hasn't been done yet and I don't think it will:

Unfortunately, Palm's system software does not allow 3rd party applications to access the phone's embedded GPS receiver. This is why an external unit is needed in some phones that claim to have an internal GPS.
