displsy stuck off

I made a call, but when the call ended, the display would not reactivate. The blinking light was on. I eventually took out the battery and reseated it. Rebooted fine, but am concerned. Any idea what happened?

Re: displsy stuck off

I assume you tried to press the button on top?

In my 3 or 4 days, I had to pull the battery one time because I couldnt get the display to come on either. But as I recall I was doing something funky. Like I was installing something that didnt work or I clicked two conflicting things, or something.

Re: displsy stuck off

I have not had any issues with this yet. That said, I think it would have been better to have hard keys for send and end functions.

Pre-production models had soft buttons on the front.. But due to the fail rate of the buttons touch screen phones have (like the storm 1) they took them off. Plus it just made the Motorola version of the phone look awful.

Re: displsy stuck off

Humpa, I did that several times, as well as the soft keys. I do not recall anything unusual I did short of taking a call.
So far so good, it did not occur again. I did download a few apps, but no problems there.

Re: displsy stuck off

Well it is a smartphone, so because of the complexity of the software, there will be bugs causing it to freeze / lockup. thats just something i've come to expect with any smartphone, regardless of OS

Re: displsy stuck off

Yeah, any computing device will have bugs or whatever.

On the plus side (I think?), I've had my Droid since Tuesdays, and I think I had to pull the battery twice. Once because I couldn't turn on the screen (I think?) and last night on a reboot it got stuck on the Droid/flashing eye screen - but I had just installed a bunch of stuff and had a bunch of stuff running when I did a reboot.

Aside from that, it has been very, very stable and very, very fast.

Re: displsy stuck off

Humpa, twice isn't bad. Could it be that when available memory for running apps gets low, it might freeze up?
Short of lags in inputting userids and passwords, I do not have any current complains about speed.
