Question Could you flash ROMs on an Adroid phone? (Hero)

I've been wondering this for awhile now and can't find an answer.

I love the Touch Pro because I loved being able to flash through all the ROMs, make tweaks and so forth. Although, this was all done on a Windows Mobile Phone.

The Hero looks and feels amazing (I got to play around with it in store) but if I can not change ROMs or do as much as I could with the Touch Pro then I would immediately change my mind and stick with my Touch Pro.

Anyone know if this can be done? I notice that PPCG.com doesn't have a specific forum for the Hero yet either, is this reason why?

I can't believe no one has even responded to this yet. I guess I'm either a complete idiot or no one else knows, lol.

Well Android is a bit different, HTC devices must be "rooted" in order to flash a custom rom. Try checking out some android forums you'll definitely find more help there. But to my knowledge the Sprint HTC hero hasn't been rooted just yet.

You can do a lot more with a Hero than WM Device running a custom ROM. Does that answer your question?

No one gets paid to hack/crack/root anything and they still do it so the best you can do is sit tight?

Yup, that's what I'm doing. i think, nonetheless, I will end up getting the Hero over the TP2 since so many people are reporting that the TP is better in terms of stability. I wonder if Mighty, Juicy or NRG will be making ROMs for Hero. They seem very committed to the Touch Pro and Touch Pro 2.
