Auto brightness issue?

Anyone else having an issue with this? It seems kinda quirky to me. Sometimes it seems to work fine and other times it doesn't. Like last night I was in a dark lounge and the screen was REALLY bright. And sometimes I notice that the phone's brightness goes up and down by itself for a sec.

I'm not sure if it's a hardware issue or not because when I turn off the auto feature then back on it seems to work again. Or after a soft reset.

Re: Auto brightness issue?

I just keep mine off until a fix. It is really quirky. The battery on the hero is good enough to not worry about it

Ok so it's not just mine. Maybe 1.6 will help? I think i'll disable mine as well but I think i'm gonna see if there is an app to adjust the brightness level from the home screen as I don't wanna keep having to go to the settings page to do it. Because in a dark setting the screen brightness at it's highest setting is BRIGHT! =)

I had the same sort of app on my mogul that had like 3 levels of brightness and had it assigned to a button. Hopefully I can find something like that as a temporary fix.

Re: Auto brightness issue?

So this might sound stupid but I was noticing the same issue and I realized at least some of the time it was because my hand was over the sensor. It is very sensitive and reacts quickly so make sure the little sensor above the sprint logo that looks like a light is not covered.

There still maybe some software issues contributing to the issue aswell but just wanted to point that out.

Some apps will not work for the hero including homescreen brightness options. it will take time but these things will be fixed once the developers come out with updates to their software.

In addition to the wacky light my screen seems to go into sleep and freeze up a little sometimes... any one else?

Will do but I hate wires and had bought a BT wireless heaphone set for that reason. Still need to try it out to see if it pairs and works ok as I think iv'e been hearing that the Hero may have BT issues too.

Hopefully they'll fix that soon as it doesn't seem to be a hardware issue.

Mine doesn't really go into sleep or freeze but another thing I did notice is when switching from portrait to landscape by moving the phone around the brightness will go low for a second and get bright again once it switches to landscape.
