Sprint affirms Palm Pre exclusivity "through 2009"

Ready for your daily dose of obvious? Good. After Verizon Wireless CEO Lowell McAdam proudly proclaimed that America's largest mobile operator would be painting the Palm Pre red "in about six months," Sprint has come forward to make sure we know that said statement is probably right on the money. According to Sprint spokesman James Fisher: "We have the Pre through 2009." Short, sweet and chock full of pent-up rage. 'Course, six months after the Pre's launch on Sprint lands us in December, giving VZW just enough time to cripple the phone's hottest features and push it out before Valentine's Day. Sounds pretty reasonable, no?

sprint better hope its not a dud. if it turns out to be as great as its said to be, heh sprint continues there downward spiral to company destruction. if they were smart they woulda kept rights on it as long as att is on the Iphone. lol, guess sprint is dumber than I thought

I'm sure the decision is not all Sprint's to make. If Palm wants to sell more of it's devices I'm sure they will sell the rights to other carriers as well. Plus with the rumored launch of the Eos Palm may decide to sell the exclusivity rights for that device to a competitor. It's all about $$ and everyone wants some. Who knows maybe the whole thing flops and everyone loses.

i just think its gonna be funny as heck when the pre takes off with numbers of that of the iphone, sprint/palm exclusivity ends then att or verizon picks it up and takes it for a few years or so. lol!!! sprint loses yet again. yes i may be calling them out....

Hard to say... Verizon might continue their normal love of tearing out every cool feature or halfing the specs...
