Disable Sprint Carrier Logo/Contact Lookup

There are two versions of this tweak:

One gets rid of the Contact Look up box on the Today screen:

Version 1

Menu --> Preferences --> Hide Lookup Field

This can be toggled anytime. Leaves the Sprint logo with BT icon on the screen though!

Version 2
Brute force. Gets rid of Contact Look up AND the Sprint Logo.

Side effect: At least on my device, the Green Phone Button does not bring up the Submenu anymore.

You loose your speedial shortcuts too.

I ended up remapping the Green key to the "PhoneDialer.exe" under \windows to get the main part back. I used AE Button Plus to do this.

HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Today\Items\"Dial Lookup"

Enabled = 0
(for off; 1 is for on)

haven't had too many missed calls, so kinda hard for me to tell. I'll keep you updated. You may want to post at pocketmax.net or send a log file to Bruce and let him know.

actually...

another side effect: it disables the in-call screen (call status), which kinda sucks.

so it can be done, but that lil' plugin is sure tied into a lot of the Palm features!

Any way to just remove the sprint part? I actually like the lookup part.

What about just changing the "Carrier" to a name you like?

This is really simple using a registry editor:
HKLM/System/State/Phone --> Change "Current Operator Name" to whatever you want

BTW, there are TONS of various options in this registry section in case anyone wants to play around with them a bit and report back??
