Questiion: How do I extend my Bluetooth range?

Is there a way to extend my Bluetooth range? Either by creating some sort of Bluetooth Access point or something? Or is there a headset with really good range? What I'm looking to do is leave my cell phone in a place with good reception and use my headset to talk.
