Verizon To Discontinue 30 Day No-ETF Window
Facing a slate of lawsuits for their ETF policies, many wireless carriers recently made a number of changes to their wireless service plans, including pro-rating ETFs, not extending user contracts every time a small change is made, and giving customers a free thirty day window to test phones. Verizon also settled for $21 million, though admitted no error on their part. After making some progress, Verizon appears to be going backwards again -- and will be discontinuing their 30-day refund program starting February 15 -- customers once again facing an ETF if they cancel within the first thirty days. The company is also reducing the discounts for "new every two" customers from $100 to $50 if you've got a plan greater than $80, and from $50 to $30 if you're on a plan that's less than $80. The more things change, the more they stay the same.

They're about to slow their growth with this news. Its bad enough they're the most expensive to stay on. Now they'll be the most expensive/hardest to leave with your wallet intact.

IMHO far too many people get suckered by VZW. Its like the cancer of the US cellular market.

VZW is trying its hardest to be like axis of evil that is the Canadian carriers (Rodgers, Telus, Bell, ROGERS & uhh Rodgers etc.).

Why not take hints from T-Mobile's strategy? Oh wait VZW is service is too good to service someone as low as the customer.

I have no reason to be mad as I'm not with them anymore but they make me sick... I just hope more people come to realize they are better off with ANY carrier (with the exception of Nextel) that is not VZW.

Don't even get me started on their ****y CS who will not bend an inch to help you outside of their boxed guidelines or convince you to stay regardless of exp/loyalty.

Thank goodness Verizon itself is miles ahead in service & adjustments compared to its cellular cousin. I just wish it was good "throughout" rather than a ying/yang corp.

That's just great .As I've said before, the only reason I stay with with them is that they're the only carrier that's reliable in my corner of Los Angeles (northwest SFV, for those of you that know the area). The 25% discount I get through work offsets the ridiculous costs to a tolerable level.

That's old news, and this was always the case if you wanted to get the extra discount on a smartphone or PDA Phone. I really never mind paying for a $40 data plan and cancelling it the next month if it saved me an extra $100 on my phone. I'm still saving $60, right?

Well I know Ive stayed with them this long because I have a 20% corp discount through my company but it may just be getting to the point where that isnt worth it anymore.
