Verizon is taking ownership end of January
I asked a frined I had at alltel, about the takeover, he said they offically take ownership at the end of january, but the name change will not take place for several more months.

He said if you would like to keep your alltel plan that you have now, try and renew in the next month or so. because the verizon can not touch your contract with alltel.

So take that for what its worth. I am going to renew a contract I have in the next month. but now what to get for another phone since I already have Diamond and Touch pro. and everyone knows that Verizon is just money hungry and would eat our children if they could get paid to do it.

That information is incorrect. Deal closes on the 9th. Alltel will officially be no more after the 20th of FEB. It is the official word as of yesterday. I'll know more after Friday.

Just got a Diamond on Alltel, to try to lock in my monthly payments (a comparison showed I'd pay $20 more/month with Verizon for a comparable plan).

A couple months ago I talked to Alltel because I live in a Verizon area and can only use 1x. They told me as of Jan 1st I will be able to have rA here. But, I am sure things have changed so many times that this wont actually take effect for a few months. Thanks for the info guys!

I just recently renewed my family plan in Dec. I've had a bad experience with Verizon before & am not looking forward to this merger. I'll decide if I should stay or go in about 2 years......
