Any sprint users take one to Europe yet?

I'm planning a trip to England and Italy in a few weeks. Trying to decide whether I should: a) rent a GSM phone from Spint; b) buy a pay-as-you-go phone when I get over there; c) trade in my Treo 700wx for one of these IP-830W phones.

My understanding is the i830w is unlocked. Couldn't you have just used a prepaid sim card in this phone instead of your other unit?

SPRINT branded i830w is unlocked, I think. I've got to China and Singapore, works with the local carrier in GSM.
