Issues Fixed on 800w vs. 700wx

This thread may bget blown away, but since I am in the market for a new phone (currently 700wx) and looking at the 800 I was wondering if those of you that now have one can help me by listin what features are added and or issues have been fixed between the two phones.

For example:

1) VC through BT - I have been told that the reason you can not use VC commands via BT was due to the BT chipset in the 700wx and would be fixed in the 800w.

2) True picturemail application vs. only being able to send pictures through email.

3) Threaded SMS

4) Any other issues that YOU had that are either present or have been fixed.

Re: Issues Fixed on 800w vs. 700wx

1. Still an issue. Supposedly it's related to the bluetooth stack and how it's implemented. No clue when or if it'll ever get fixed. Very sad; it's 2008 and we still can't use voice command via a headset.
2. No dice either (at least with Sprint). sMMS supposedly works well but I don't want to pay for it so I haven't tried it.
3. Works great! Unfortunately it's a separate application rather than using the built in threading support WM 6.1 has but I love it (I actually like the seperation but many don't).
4. So far many are upset regarding the GPS is labeled as standalone but will not work with the radio off (the Mogul worked the sameway so I'm not sure why the outrage). The stylus feels very cheap and the battery it comes with is even smaller than the Moguls at 1100 (though it always lasts me all day when I use Bluetooth for a few hours, talk on the phone, text message through-out the day, light e-mail and other misc activities).

EVDO-A appears to not be enabled out of the box, however; people seem to get EVDO-A response times and speed so this issue is not clear. Basically you can go to ##3836# and EVDO-A is unchecked. Checking this causes many issues with users not receiving phone calls and text messages (I couldn't use TeleNav after I enabled it). Though many of us seem to get the EVDO-A speeds with this unchecked so we have no idea if it's a problem or not.

Overall this phone is a huge improvement over my 700wx and my Mogul. I love it so far.

What, the GPS on the 800w won't work with the cell radio off?
Why the outrage when the mogul worked the sameway? My mogul's GPS works great with the cell radio off. It's the first thing I tried when the leaked GPS ROM came out.

From my understanding the Mogul, like the 800w, will NOT work with GPS if you disable the radio and soft reset it. My Mogul behaves the sameway though I believe there is a registry hack to fix this.

Having said that, I've heard from a few 800w owners that they turned off their radio after they started TeleNav and it guided them over 100 miles with the radio off so it would appear it needs the radio on for some sort of initial "kick-off" then it continues to work.

Re: Issues Fixed on 800w vs. 700wx

Basically the 800w is everything the 700wx is plus and minus. Plus WIFI plus GPS plus more memory and the excellent 320 x 320 screen. Minus the antenna the bulk and the low resolution 240 x 240 screen. The 800w is as clean running and easy to use as the 700wx. This device works like you would expect a palm to work.

Don't anybody use the EVDO-Rev A hack. It screwed up both of my 800w's. I have been without service for over 4 hours. You have to go back into the hack by typing ##3863# and make sure that Rev A checkbox is unchecked but you also have to make sure that automatic is highlighted in blue in the menu box. Then you must click SAVE and then OK to reset the radio. You also need to make sure that your networks setting is HOME NETWORK ONLY before you do this so it can reset your radio. !!Please don't use this hack if you want to save yourself some aggravation.

Re: Issues Fixed on 800w vs. 700wx

Sprint Telenav requires the radio to download the route and the maps. Therefore, thats why the person who started telenav and then shut off the radio had no problems. If you install a program that does not require a data connection for maps, the gps should work just fine without the cell radio on.
