800w identifies itself with Owner Name, not Device Name, when paired with car
When I pair my 800w with my Nissan Armada, it identifies itself with Owner Name. My Touch identifies itself with Device Name.
Fixed it after some research (credit to xda-developers). Looks like the MS BT stack uses Owner Name, not Device ID, but you can manually change it. Use a registry editor, go to HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Bluetooth\Settings, change 'LocalName' to name you want, soft reset, delete old pairing, re-pair. |

Re: 800w identifies itself with Owner Name, not Device Name, when paired with car
It's probably a Palm thing. My 700wx was also using the Owner name. I prefer using the device ID, but never bothered making the change on the registry.

From what I read at xda-dev, it sounds like that's the way the MS BT stack works. People were having the same issue with several of the HTC phones. |

MS must have changed it then. I have a PPC2003 device, which uses the DeviceID as the BT name. They probably figure it's easier identifying the device using the device owner.
