Can you "Restore" from a SPBackup Mogul backup?

Has anyone done this, to bring over your contacts, notes, calendar, everything else? Will resistry edits done on the Mogul come over too, and work, or screw up the Treo?

You do not want to do that, it will mess up your Treo. The best thing to do is use ActiveSync & Outlook to sync everything.

Re: Can you "Restore" from a SPBackup Mogul backup?

Can you? Yes, but it is HIGHLY NOT recommended. Although most registries maybe the same, some are not. Plus, there is a chance that you may overwrite a file specifically written on the Mogul to the Treo 800. Besides, I don't think the Mogul is Wm 6.1, while the Treo 800w is. So as suggested above, just perform an activesync to sync your data and just reinstall apps. It maybe a PITA now, but at least you will have a clean device.

best bet if not using activesync is to only restore contacts and nothing else, definitely do not use PIMbackup to restore texts, creates big issues with threaded messaging.

Re: Can you "Restore" from a SPBackup Mogul backup?

I have the Treo 800w and the Sprint Mogul, I wouldn't suggest doing this either for the simple fact as what the others said. There are some programs on the Mogul that will just not fit the screen of the Treo, at the same time alot of hacks and settings you may have put on your Mogul, may screw up the Treo. I too suggest just doing an activesync, so that you can get ur contacts back, and thats really about it. I would just research the programs which would work on the Treo 800w that you may have on your Mogul, and just reinstall the cabs to the Treo 800w. And by the way, my Mogul has Windows Mobile 6.1, I upgraded it through the Sprint.com website. It will always be able to upgrade to the new Windows Mobile updates. I got ALL of the bugs out of my Mogul, gonna have to get all of the bugs out of my Treo 800w but gotta wait for some people to list some items cuz I'm not gonna risk ruining my Treo with Mogul Programs.

Have you considered mail2web if you cant use or don't want to use Activesync I highly recommend mail2web. It will back up your contacts, notes, and tasks if you are interested you can find more information about mail2web in the FAQ sticky in this forum.
