What does this do exactly? I thought you didn't need to "hide" tethering with Treo's or other WM devices since the dialup on the phone and the PC would be the same (#777).

Good question santos.

Not sure if disabling Multi-NAI is really needed with WM5 PPC phones. Nonetheless, it was enabled on the 6700s out of the box. So... just to be safe, I've always disabled it, and have tethered as needed since late 2005 without any issues. That said, I'm guessing you'd be fairly safe either way with light use.

Here's some info NAI:

Multi-NAI / Tethering Detection
The NAI (Network Access Identifier) is used by many cellular carriers to identify whether the handset is accessing data on its own, or is tethered to another device such as a laptop. If this option is enabled by default, it tells the handset to use a different NAI when tethering.

I see. Ok, I guess it won't hurt to turn it off, especially if the 6700s had it and worked fine.

Since that key doesn't exist for me, I just have to add OEM\WMODEM under HKLM\Software, correct?

Santos,

If your PPC does not have the enabled Multi-NAI registry setting... You should be good to go without any reg edits.
