Nextel Walkie Talkie on CDMA network..Yes
I was just in the sprint store about an hour ago. The saleguys was talking to these two guys in front of me about a cdma phone that has nextel walkie talkie.
When it was my turn I asked more questions about the new phone. It is stickly cdma network. Has nothing to do with iden network at all. That was the main question I wanted to ask. I forget the name of the phone its either sanyo or samsung. Pro700 (i believe). The guy even told me that its the first phone not made by motorola that works with direct connect. Ive posted another thread about the direct connect on my 6700. I know now that it is a hardware issue because of the iden network handling all the direct connect calls. I would need the iden board inside the phone making it nearly impossible to get to work. However with this new phone what are the possibilitys of getting the direct connect on another cdma phone. I know its crazy but I can do just about anything on my ppc and when I show people the phone they always ask about the direct connect. Blah Blah Blah that much for a phone on sprint and it doesnt even have the nextel direct connect. I want to shut them up for good. When I go back to the store in about another hour and a half Im gonna get all the info on the phone. Hopefully Ill have a link or something to post with this. Any info would be great. Thanks All. |

Re: Nextel Walkie Talkie on CDMA network..Yes
As a sprint employee, I can tell you that they are working on phones that are capable of using the walkie talkie feature accross the sprint / nextel board. We should be seeing new handsets within the next couple of months that cross the device and allow cdma customers to use the walkie talkie feature

I am also a sprint emloyee and i know that there are a few upcoming handsets that are on the cdma network that support direct connect, i think the Sanyo Pro-700 should be dropping this month. i know for a fact that one is a Motorola v950 but im not sure when that one is coming out.

Re: Nextel Walkie Talkie on CDMA network..Yes
ahhh, hello, powersource/hybrid phones that are already out with Sprint use the combination of CDMA and IDEN technology on their phones already.

Re: Nextel Walkie Talkie on CDMA network..Yes
They dont work on both MHz of the Sprint Network. Thus they dont work everywhere an actual Sprint phone would. It was a temporary fix until the QCHat phones came out

Re: Nextel Walkie Talkie on CDMA network..Yes
yes these SprintNextel DirectConnect phones that have REV.A use ONLY the SPRINT CDMA network it can connect to iDen users. I'm not sure if the DC works out of the Rev.A network. Sprint can use these speeds to use VoIP on the phones and would be able to offer VideoCallingand and calling while surfing the net at the same time we could even see a push to Rev.B or beyond this is one of the reasons Sprint hasn't shown many upcoming phones since they still don't know what should be done network wise it is a very tough decision to take but if the thoughts in the boards get piped as we want them to we will see Sprint not only as a basic cellphone provider but we actually HAVE the assets to create a dynamic service integrated to our lifes if XOHM as it is a WiMax network is taken on to a different network technology is just something than can be done but the XOHM vision is present. The other guys are opening in some ways because of the threat that grows beneath them and above them. In all the ones that are going to be happy are all of us, the users.

The good news is you can talk on the phone anywhere you have CDMA, So voice coverage beats the pants off of the PowerSourse/hybrid phones. The bad news is the QChat /direct connect only works (to my knowlege) on Rev A CDMA. My conclusion: If QChat is only on Rev A, it would be impossible for the 6700 to use QChat. Now as for the Mogul or the Touch (when Rev A is enabled), your guess is as good as mine.

I am well aware of the hybrid phones. They have been out for a long time. That is not at all what I am talking about. This new phone works stickly on CDMA network. NO Iden at all. I still have not been back to pick up my phone from the service store. This phone is the first nextel not made by motorola. The guy was trying to sell it to the guy in front of me. I want to say its made by sanyo or samsung. I dont know if its out yet. It didnt seem like it. Joebob has the right idea though. Im gonna search for qchat right now. That youtube link was exactly what Im talking about I think those are the phones that I seen a pic of too. Heres the phones that will include Qchat coming out April 08 sometime. Re: Nextel Walkie Talkie on CDMA network..Yes
There are 2 phones scheduled to come out this Month they are made by Sanyo they are the SANYO Pro200 and Pro700(this is the milspec phone). They are suppose to be able to utilize the new Qchat and the Nextel iden network thru some gizmo that Sprint has. Here is a link I found just searching the phones on Google.
http://www.mobiledia.com/news/65655.html I have actually seen the sales flyers from our local rep. Nice looking phones. We had the hybrids before that only worked on the Sprint Network with the Nextel Direct Connect and got rid of them because of the lousy coverage. We have been waiting for these to come out to allow the roaming feature. I just went thru all my emails trying to find the flyer but I must have deleted it. The QChat is still going to be called Nextel Direct Connect and they are going to be migrating everyone over to the QChat network since they want to get away from the iden network(I believe they had some type of legal issue with the iden network and were given time to move everyone off of it). One of the things that they are pushing for the new DC is that it is as quick as the Nextel DC. I guess alot of people were unhappy with Verizon and Att's version due to slow initial connection compared to Nextel. Again I am basing this on the flyer and tech info that the Store Owner had. We have been hounding her about getting it in our area(Upstate NY) since last year right now the dates she gave me were April 16-20th so we are right around the corner. |
