OEM Camera Replacement: CoolCamera

So I've been playing around with this app for a couple of versions and I'm happy to recommend it now:

CoolCamera: http://www.ateksoft.com/ (Trial/$14.95)

ATEKsoft CoolCamera key features:

--High frame rate (up to 25 fps) and smooth video. Efficient encoding
algorithm utilize your XScale processor at maximum!
--Easy camera control. All actions can be performed using hardware
buttons only.
--Camera adjustment without leaving view-finder mode.
--Interval picture capturing.
--High resolution (up to 1280x960) video in Motion Jpeg AVI format.
--Pause/resume video recording process.
--NEW! Using PDA as Webcamera (via Active Sync/Desktop)

It's still in development but works very well on the 6700. Visit their forums with bugs OR recommendatons as they are very responsive.

This program loads waaaay faster than our default and the quality is much, much better and NO stylus needed. Give it a whirl!

Oh yeah, those are definitely generic!!!

But, I can assure you the quality, imo is substantially better than the stock. Plus you can do much more (via settings) and they are constantly developing it/improving it.

Makes the camera finally usable on this device. I even mapped CoolCamera to a seperate hard key for faster launch (the holding down thing bugs me).

Hey you beat me to it. I saw this on another website and I was going to post it but never got around to it. Too bad it costs money.

was it 6700users? cause I tipped them off too and the mod started a new thread...

yeah, it does cost $15, but honestly I'm totally behind these guys. No way is HTC going to update/improve this camera so I'm all about supporting the development of this app. Totally worth it.

I mean, damn, we can use it as webcam now! that's pretty niffty. Can't wait to see what they do next...

holy sh*t I missed that section, I know alot of ppl wanted to know if they could use it as a webcam, and know they can! im sure someone will end up cracking this program, like all other programs. but 15 bux aint bad, and if they continue improving the software its difinitely worth it.

Earlier versions were cracked via a keygen.

These guys are Russian though. If anyone knows about piracy, it's these guys.

Because of that, their new system is quite impressive. First, you have a hardware ID key, which you send them. They then generate a key which is delivered to you via a .cab file whicn you then install to register the program

Not saying it won't/can't be cracked but the "Regcode" that gets entered into my registry is something like 100 letters and numbers

Side note: I always noticed the Russian programmers are the best at preventing piracy of their apps. Same goes for AE Button Plus.

And it hasn't been cracked since 1.06 (we're on 1.11 now).

Like I said, this is one I like to actually support. yeah, my ethics are relative.

your so right, if anyone should know about cracking it will be the russians! They have no laws that actually outlaw cracking and priated software. How sweet is that. If you host a site on a russian based server/host, you can actually store and link to all the priated software you want!
