I also have the grounding problem. Preorder Evo from radioshack... with and without screen protector... phone defect, Sprint replace?

Re: Try this screen test with your EVO and report back

on a table I am fine, setting it on a padded surface (couch, arm of chair, bed) issue shows up, literally touching the phone any ware with a conductive surface resolves

Re: Try this screen test with your EVO and report back

I tried on mine. I think the problem when you lay down the phone, it is your fingers orientation thats casusing the problem. I had the problem as OP stated, but then carefully scrolled the notification bar...no problem. So for the OP, please try to place your finger correctly and try to roll it down. And again if you have a large finger tip it might be difficult as it might hit the clock and weather page.

Re: Try this screen test with your EVO and report back

works fine on a desk.. until I moved over to a stack of papers on the same desk.. i have a hard time scrolling the notifcation bar down and instead keep selecting the clock.

phone has a screen protector and is from RS.

on the desk, i press and hold until see the date, then i scroll it down.
on the desk w/ papers, i press and hold until i see the date(which doesnt always seem to want to work), then i try to scroll down...sometimes it scrolls down and works, sometimes the date disappears and i activate the clock

Re: Try this screen test with your EVO and report back

I noticed this when I was in the car yesterday. I have a car dock that I think effectively eliminates any conductivity contact and I noticed that the normally responsive screen was "hinky." The touchscreen would not respond like it normally would.

I immediately thought of the issues with the Incredible. However, on any other surface (couch, table, bed) I have not seen the issue reproduce itself as was seen in the Incredible videos.

Re: Try this screen test with your EVO and report back

OK, I just tried some tests on various surfaces: plastic, fabric and styrofoam. The top half of the screen either does not respond or it takes multiple taps to make things happen, including dragging down the notification bar. However, it only seems to affect the top half of the screen. The bottom half works as it should.

As soon as I put my other hand on the device, everything works fine.
