Re: Opera 10 beta early users? (Mobile)
Quote:
![]() I still uninstalled Opera 10beta this week though... a little "too beta" for my liking; NO PAGE would load the first time I directed the browser to it, I was incessantly hitting "refresh," which was annoyong and counterproductive. Aside from the look and feel, I really didn't notice much of a true tangible change, advantage, or increase in overall performance compares to the 9-series Opera Mobile releases. Once Opera-10 hits RC, or a 1st Stable Release, I will look into it. *Oh, also... how on earth do you close it to background (not exit it all the way)? Opera-9's was much easier to close, you tapped the screen and it went from full screen, to show your Windows Mobile top-bar, where you could "X" it out, and later go right back to it through the drop-down task manager in the upper right hand corner of the phone. With Opera-10 all I saw was an "Exit" icon. |

Opera Mobile 10 Beta 2
Opera Mobile 10 Beta 2 Released
http://www.opera.com/mobile/ http://my.opera.com/operamobile/blog...windows-mobile The main improvements from the previous betas are: Both: * Opera Link * Download manager * UI is more finger-friendly on touch devices * Possible to manage search engines * Opera remembers page position and zoom state when moving in history * Column snapping also on touch * Better memory management * Fix for mobile view crash * Start page available from touch menu * Lots of minor bug fixes * Clear cache setting Windows Mobile (only): * Asks whether to set Opera as default browser on install * Fix for crash on startup (occurred on some devices due to encoding in bookmarks that were imported) * Shortcut support Known issues include: S60: * To view Asian languages Web pages you must download the "International version". This includes extra fonts which take approx 3Mb space after installation. See this blog post for more information. * Only phones with Asian language packs will show Asian characters in the user interface (bookmarks etc) * Known exceptions: Thai, Hindi (no support for Thai, Hindi glyphs in UI elements regardless of build used) * Only partial IME (Input Method Editor) support * Soft keyboard is shown even though hard keyboard is slid out and in use * Canceling a connection request does not work (dialogue will pop up again indefinitely) * Crash if you use system edit (platform input method) instead of default on facebook.com (probably also other sites) * No plug-in support (e.g. Flash) * You must click connect twice to use Opera Dragonfly Windows Mobile: * Non-Touch devices are not supported (Smartphone profile) * No plug-in support (e.g. Flash) * Some input method editors “IME” (hard and soft phone keyboards) are known not to work well with Opera because they do not comply with Microsoft's SIP and/or IME standard. When such an editor is detected by Opera, Opera will use a known (default) input method instead. An exception is EzInput v1.5, where the phone keypad and compact QWERTY, ABC mode doesn't work, but the rest of the modes work fine. We recommend upgrading to EzInput v2.0 to avoid this. * Many IME's (Input Method Editor) will override the Opera shortcuts * Certain HTC devices with TouchFLO will force Opera back to portrait mode if visiting home screen when Opera is in landscape. * On older WM 5.0 Devices with 480x800 resolution, switching between portrait and landscape may cause display errors. This is due to lack of support for this resolution in early versions of Microsoft's driver. * You must click connect twice to use Opera Dragonfly |

Re: Opera Mobile 10 Beta 2
I'm using Opera 10 beta 1 that was cooked into a rom. How do I install the beta 2 version? If I cab install will it install over beta 1 or will I have two different versions on Opera 10 on my phone?

Re: Opera Mobile 10 Beta 2
OMG: opera 10 beta 2 is leaps and bounds better than beta 1. It seems much faster, latches onto text for easier one dimensional scrolling, has opera link (make sure to delete the beta 1 program files directory before installing beta 2), and has a filled out menu making usage much easier (downloads, start page, etc).
I put in the customer user agent string of Opera/10.50 (Windows NT 6.1; U; en-GB) Presto/2.2.2 seemed to make it even faster. |

Re: Opera Mobile 10 Beta 2
Has anyone figured out how to add a new search engine to the search box? Beta 2 is suppose to have this ability but so far I'm only able to edit the existing wikipedia search box only and Google's search entry is grayed out and unwritable.

Re: Opera 10 beta early users? (Mobile)
I am going back to something in the 9.xx series of Opera... I just got a Touch Pro 2, so I'm not sure what differences there are I can take advantage of. I'm going to upgrade using Mighty Rom to Windows Mobile 6.5 though
