Sense 2.5.2018 ROMs, with RSS, available here!

The "Soap Box" Pitch
Let me start by first saying that Programatix at XDA has done a wonderful job of porting both 2016 and 2018. He has done these ports both effectively and quickly. By themselves, they have extended the life and utility of our phones, first with the 2016 port that was, IMO, smoother and faster, and now with the 2018 port that provides an RSS capability on the home tab. Who would think that we are basically running the same OS's as the newest phones being sold today. Even better, his ports are providing an excellent basis for advanced UI development like Co0kie's Home Tab and MaxSense, which even the new phone owners want to install. The work done by Programtix is non-trivial; there are literally hundreds of manila files that must be modded to work on our phones.

Alas, unless Programatix can be "encouraged", it looks like it will be the last port he will be doing for our phones, even though there are already rumors of another major Sense 2.5.2020 update some time later this year. I must say though, with or without any major Sense updates, I believe Programatix deserves to be "thanked" for the work he has already done. For both these reasons I am asking any users of the ROMs on this page to seriously consider making a donation of any size, small or large, here. Think of it as giving up some small luxury, maybe a coffee or beer or energy drink, for a couple of days and donating that to Programatix. After all, if you had a friend or a stranger who had done some favor for you, wouldn't you think of saying thank you by offering to buy him a beer or something if you met him at a bar? And if you are wondering, yes I have already donated myself to him.

Finally, for myself, I ask nothing more than continuing to hit the thanks button whenever I've done something you appreciate.

Notes and Links
As noted in a later post, it appears that CHT 1.8.5 does work with 2018, albeit without RSS. See that post for a suggestion on how to access RSS. If you see some interesting behavior, I'd suggest you let the developers on the CHT thread at XDA know your results, and also let me know. I'm still not going to update my Family and Friends ROM's to 2018 till the new CHT comes out. That's when we'll have our next flash party!

Please continue to let me know what you think about these new ROMs and any problems you may be observing and I'll try to figure out what's happening. Finally, if you haven't, try the new long press end key which corresponds to the Quick EndKey program on the Start menu.
