Re: Root + OverclockWidget = Insane Battery Life 40+ Hours

I'll be interested to post my results after work today... I'll pull mine off the charger at 7:45am Eastern and report back at 7:45pm Eastern. Full Disclosure: Here's a rundown of the tweaks I've done in addition to the Overclock Widget...

http://www.goodandevo.net/2010/05/20...tery-life.html

Here's my rationale for each of the tweaks...

1. Done. Manual Brightness at about 30-35%. Set it so you can still read clearly but not full brightness. Don't use Auto, it abuses the hell out of the display that way.
2. Done. I am still sticking with Wifi on, Mobile Network off when possible and switching between them as needed; GPS is still on; Bluetooth and 4G are off.
3. Done for Wifi. Irrelevant for 4G since it's turned off.
4. DONE! This seems to have a big impact.
5. Not done... not sure if it has an impact on email syncing yet.
6. Mine is set at the default 1 minute.
7. This is obvious and stupid.
8. Not done... this would defeat the purpose of having a smart phone.
9. Done. Duh.
10. Not done... this is part of the coolness factor and irrelevant if the apps aren't running.
11. Done. The novelty wears off quickly anyway, lol.
12. Done. The novelty wears off quickly here too.
13. Done, but irrelevant... a pixel on is a pixel on, plus #1 would have the impact.
14. DONE! Interesting tip about how it would wake up mobile network instead of wifi for this!
15. Done. Duh.
16. Done. Duh. Not as critical as it sounds if you're doing all the other tips.
17. Not done... I fail to see how a small LED flashing for a few minutes a day is going to have any major impact. Can't hurt though if you don't need the LED notifications.
18. Not done... keeping it my pocket means I wouldn't always hear it, even in a quiet environment, so the nudge is helpful.
19. Not done... irrelevant unless you're making hundreds of calls per day. YMMV
20. Not done... irrelevant unless you're cranking out emails and texts all day long. YMMV

Anyway, Mondays are usually pretty insane for me, so could go either way, but yesterday I had everything set as though it were a Monday and I was at 61% after 15 hours.
