EV keeps switching to 1X

My phone keeps switching to 1x from EV when data apps are used. It can have full strength EV signal and still switch to 1x. I have VerizonWireless with the stock i910rom. Any clues on why I can't get EV data?

I recommend the usual *228 and update update your rom if you haven't already and if that fails to do anything, call customer service. I don't know of any other changes that could be made on the phone to stop this. also keep in mind that the phone switches to 1x for SMS and calls.

when idle your " bars" can be a false reading. once you start moving data then the real signal strength shows up. mine does it a lot at home but its because even though in idle its evdo/4 bars its in reality a 0-1 signal. on my Dare I could go to the super secret menu and do signal tests but havent found the super secret menu on this phone yet
